Why do I write with a Fountain Pen?

When I write each morning, I prefer using a fountain pen. The way I hold the fountain pen, the angle, the tilt in which it is consistent. Every now and then I’ve to refill the ink. Clean the pen once every three months. Basically, my pen requires my complete attention.

When I’m being present to a fountain pen, unlike a cheap, one-time use ball-point pen, there is a degree of slowness. This slowness has nothing to do with time, but it has an innate experience within it.

In experiencing this slowness, I’m able to be in this moment, I’m fully present. It is an opportunity for me to become fully aware of this moment. Finding that slowness gives me a certain balance and composure.
