The Ulterior Motive

When we take up time boxing or any "good habit" for that matter - we do it with a motive. All the self-help books talk about building habits such as managing time, becoming productive or making a certain lifestyle choice, it is with an ulterior motive.

We camouflage this motive with a rosy picture. But when we become present to this ulterior motive and instead focus on the intent of the action than any hidden motive, the possibility goes beyond the realm of me.

Now, find an example where you've camouflaged your motive by calling it intent, self-love, empathy, my happiness etc. Distinguish the motive from the action. Look at what the action can serve. Just be with that action. Can you now find a greater possibility?
