The Other Edge of Experience

The moment one is in the experience of something, they are already filled up with a notion, an understanding or some sort of a know-how on the matter. And therefore, one cannot, in this default mode, be empty in an experience. Hence, 'experience' can be a double-edged sword. But, can we acknowledge the necessity of being empty and keep aside our experience? What would that enable?

Experience certainly helps us grow both in our careers as well as in our personal life. Experience can help in learning from our past, and therefore it can help us in enriching our lifestyle. But at the same time experience is also a bias confirmation.

…when we have a conversation with that other individual, we already are prejudiced. And, often we don't realise that we are being so. Even more often, this happens with the dear and close ones around us…

When it comes to relationships, we have knowingly or unknowingly built an image of the other person. This image starts shaping and reshaping from our first meet with that person. Each time, then onwards, when we have a conversation with that other individual, we already are prejudiced. And, often we don't realise that we are being so. Even more often, this happens with the dear and close ones around us, and therefore we take them for granted, listen to them with a filter, or never try to see the other (or a new) side. In moments like these, consciously keeping aside our experience helps. It is a foundation for a new being, for a new possibility. Emptiness in the experience is an as important aspect as the experience itself.
