Midnight in Paris

Language is one of humankind's marvellous creation. It has three layers to it. One, that of communication. Two, that of expression. And Three, that of realisation.

"The artist's job is not to succumb to despair, but to find an antidote for the emptiness of existence."

-Midnight in Paris (2011)

If the above line from "Midnight in Paris" is read as an answer to what a job of an artist, then, perhaps, it's a communication. The moment, the tone of the character "Gertrude Stein" played by Kathy Bates is brought into the picture and the nuances of that sentence are comprehended, it becomes a powerful expression. It is when the meaning of that line is experienced, there is a realisation.

The basic functionality of language is that to communicate a message. Beyond that, one expresses the specific sense or experience of one's being - that aspect of which has evolved the human race.

There is a tremendous possibility in language.
