If the purpose of Art was a way and means to bring out from within, to express then yes, writing is an Art. But often we tend to associate art with something that is creative. In that case, can my writing be termed as art?
Creation is an outcome of a process of creating. Creating happens from the absence of that thing that is created in the first place. On that regards, a creation emerges from an empty space.
Often, we create many things – our imaginative fears, worries, anxieties all are a part of it. Aren't they, at one level, nothing but our thoughts? How often are they more than a figment of our imagination?
Writing is a means – a powerful medium to tame our thoughts. It's a slow act that keeps us available to the thought at hand.
These thoughts are wild, untamed and all over the place. We often catch ourselves swirled into a swamp of thoughts. They seem so real that we lose track of reality. Writing is a means – a powerful medium to tame our thoughts. It's a slow act that keeps us available to the thought at hand.
You see, there is another purpose to art. It is to take us back into that empty space to then see and create for ourselves our own meaning. In that context, just the act of writing (anything) from our mind to express and to empty ourselves is a form of art.
