Habits and Expectations

Writer's picture: ThirteenThirteen

If we search quotes on habits in google, we will get thousands of them. Most of them will tell you how habits form behaviours and lead to excellence in life. None of these quotes get into the mechanical and repeated nature of every habit.

A habit is a repetition of an activity on a regular basis. The side effect of doing so is one will end up making it mechanical and thus there is no freshness in the activities. Also , when we register the experience coming from a habit we get attached to that experience. Then we want to get the same experience again. So every time we start or think of starting that activity we expect to get the same outcome both physically and psychologically.

Few questions which arise here are, should we then don’t develop habits? Should we not expect from our habits? Is there a way to keep our habit new and fresh every-time.

Creation of a desired life is an ambition, and yet we succumb to the fast paced life. In this time and age, 13 is a blog that provides a two minutes everyday read on six week days and on Sunday a free planning tool towards designing your future week is available to download that acts as your own mindfulness guide.
