When the distinction between 'I' and 'a' comes into the picture, there is a distance created between me and my ego. For example, "I have a situation that is extremely disturbing" vs. "There's a situation that is extremely disturbing". In the second phrase, there is a distance of the ego, the identity from the situation and hence the experience of disturbance is as-is and is not amplified or exaggerated.
When there is a sense of detachment, there is also a wholeness with the situation. There is an acceptance. There is an experience of slowness. There is a response rather than a reaction.
