As we looked in our yesterday's story of two friends, it wasn't difficult for the boss to choose whom to promote - Mr Monk or Mr Corporate. We too would simply know whom we would choose as our spearhead. Mr Monk worked efficiently, maintained his calm, worked only 8 hours a day but yielded the same result as his friend Mr Corporate. Mr Corporate worked hard, 18 hours a day, pushed his team harder, and yielded about the same result.
One worked efficient, the other hard. One was frictionless the other exhausting. Both had common intent. However, it was Monk who was creative. Not because it was a God gift or his innate quality but because his way of giving allowed him to observe life around connect with others and that brought this creative possibility.
The boss promoted Mr Monk. His friend, Mr Corporate now reported Monk. A year passed by, and they were thick friends, like before. Corporate, however, was now much calmer. Monk had a charm on him and his creative side started showing up.
It is only when the efficient one that sails smooth. And, without friction, there is no overheating thereby allowing space for other qualities to flourish.
