Cathartic Writing and Being

Writer's picture: ThirteenThirteen

When we write into our journal each morning, we experience a state of emptiness within. After reading yesterday’s post, if you’ve just started to write, then this experience of emptiness may not be relatable. But consider, when you complete a hard day’s task, and have a sense of accomplishment – not as an achievement but that sense coming from acceptance of the situation, that night we sleep like a baby. There are no thoughts on our mind bothering us in the background. This emptiness can be considered as a similar experience.

Being in this state of mind, connects us to ourselves, to the present moment as is. In this, there is an experience of being.

In the last few years, the term “being in the moment” seems to have become popular. But being in the moment is not an act. It’s a consequence of our existence. Where else can we be? We can only and only be at this moment. It’s just that our mind refuses to be in the present as it finds it uncomfortable to do that. Writing for emptying our biases, apprehensions, fears, worries give us access to acceptance. And, in acceptance, there is an acknowledgement of the present moment. In this present moment, we experience the ‘being’.
