Why do we all work? Many say they work to earn their daily living or to support their family, and while that is a real necessity in our modern living, in falling for this reality as the only real thing we lose our calm, our composure. Many around the world are dealing with mental and emotional health-related issues. Stress, anxiety, fear, depression have become more synonymous than ever before - even among teenagers and younger ones. It's like the rat trapped on a wheel is running all the time but never reaching the cheese. We seem to be running in this rat race forever.
If we look at our grandparents' generation though, we never saw them stressed or worried about things despite a difficult living in terms of sheer comfort that we're privileged with. Our grandparents' generation, in fact, worked more rigorously, they were physically pushing their limit in comparison to most of the readers reading from the comfort of their comfortable space. It only seems irrational that we're more stressed than that generation.
The only possible explanation is that we make what appear as real as the only reality. Ikigai is that secret which shows and brings forth the parallel realities.
The only possible explanation is that we make what appear as real as the only reality. Ikigai is that secret which shows and brings forth the parallel realities. Here, one's reason for being is not defined alone by what they do to earn their living, but what they're good at, what's the intent, objective, the aim they have, their experience and most important of all - the joy they derive from working in alignment with their intent.
It is only when one is able to see these parallel realities, one can foresee beyond the immediate perceived threat; one is able to look at life holistically. And, only with that holistic viewpoint, one can lead a long, happy and fulfilling life. With such a condition, there is a state of flow in the work one does.
